Hello! With an imminent move from our current home in Denver, CO to the UK, my mind is swampy, filled with wonderous but also daunting things, so please bear with me as I wade through want to share with you…
I’d love for you to join me for my final exhibition / studio sale / farewell in Denver on August 10th, 3-9pm at Galapago Space. It’s a one-day event, I’ll be there for the whole thing; nibbling snacks, sipping beers and chatting! I’ll have some new works on show as well as discounted prints and ceramics in the yard. There’ll also be a free screen-printed foldout poster for visitors (unless I mess it up in the next week!) Come by, I’d love to see you!
New ceramics in-progress exploring surface texture for my upcoming show
I’m also having a HUGE online sale starting now! Help me lighten my load by purchasing a print or two before my store closes on August 15th, some items are up to 50% off! Anything purchased between now and then will be packed and shipped on August 16th. You can also select ‘Local Pick-up’ to collect from me directly. I’m not sure when I’ll feel settled enough to reopen so this is your best opportunity to get a hold of artwork for a while! Please send questions if you have them, and if the pricing is looking funky for shipping feel free to get in touch.
Pulp, Paint, Play
I’ve just returned from a wild ride of two weeks teaching a class called ‘Pulp, Paint, Play’ in Upstate New York at Women’s Studio Workshop (WSW), through their Summer Arts Institute. Each session was five days of immersive learning in the papermaking studio. We explored the possibilities and limitations of pulp painting - a process I got to know through my residency there last year.

Not only did my students learn a lot - I did too! There was so much growth in such a short space of time and I’m so proud of what we created together. I’ve come away from it both exhausted and invigorated, I’ll be looking for more opportunities to play with pulp soon. A huge thank you to my excellent studio assistant (and friend!) Thaïs, also to WSW for the invitation to teach, and the surrounding community for being a joy to be around. I hope to be back in the future!
And now, some things I’ve enjoyed recently…
Read:
I read this beautiful article in the NYT magazine recently; it shares an experience of travelling with someone who has dementia. It surprised me and challenged what I thought I knew about the condition - I hope it does the same for you.
Cook:
Zucchini Spaghetti ~ We’ve made it to that special time of year where we have SO many zucchini / courgettes from the garden that every meal celebrates them and if you live nearby I’m handing them out like you’re trick or treating. We were lucky enough to visit our friends whilst in Upstate NY and Lisa (she’s a phenomenal photographer) made this pasta for lunch, it’s delicious!
Listen:
One Sunday Morning – Wilco ~ A 12-minute song that both grounds me and makes me cry. I’d never looked up the meaning behind the lyrics until now, but apparently it’s about the death of someone’s father who was overly critical and religious, and the relief his son feels at his death. Heart-breaking!
Look:
I cannot keep myself from being overly sentimental in this time of transition – how lucky are we that skies like this exist!
